Day 33... The Pilgrim Cleanse

For our grand finale half marathon walk today, we began with holy water straight from the sky to cleanse us from our pilgrim funk. I'm not talkin' a light mist that gently surrounds you and feels good. It was a torrential down pour of rain that was hitting you in every direction, for the first 3 hours. Somehow we made it an adventure that didn't bring us down! We clomped through the mud and kept going. We arrived in Santiago about 1:00 and saw many other pilgrim friends that we've met along the way. It was amazing to reconnect with them. Those of is who have seen each other on the Camino off and on from the beginning reunited for a wonderful moment of hugs, high fives and congratulations! It is truly amazing to have completed this journey. I would absolutely do it again! We are planning to attend the 9:30 Mass tomorrow and hope to see the botafumeiro swung through the cathedral. It is only swung on Friday evenings, holy days and festivals. Tomorrow appears to be a festival day!
